Sulaimaniyah - April 19, 2026 - In a significant move designed to bridge the gap between academic education and professional readiness, STEP Iraq and Sulaimaniyah University have officially entered into a new strategic partnership.
During a formal signing ceremony, Rahim Amin, Director of STEP Iraq, alongside Dr. Abdul Fatah Hawrami, Director of the Coordination Board and the Career Development Center (CDC) at Sulaimaniyah University, executed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering youth development and civic engagement.
The newly established agreement, which is set to run for a duration of one year, lays the groundwork for enhanced collaboration between the non-governmental sector and higher education in the Kurdistan Region. By combining STEP Iraq’s organizational expertise with the university’s robust academic framework, the partnership is engineered to create actionable, real-world pathways for student success.
The MoU outlines a collaborative framework specifically designed to uplift the student and support the broader Slemani community. The joint initiatives will focus on four primary pillars:
Developing Youth Skills: Focusing on cultivating both the hard technical abilities and the essential soft skills required to thrive in modern professional environments.
Labor Market Preparation: Equipping undergraduates and recent alumni with the practical tools, career counseling, and hands-on experience necessary to transition smoothly from university life into a highly competitive workforce.
Addressing Community Challenges: Encouraging students and young professionals to apply their academic knowledge and newly acquired skills to identify, analyze, and solve real-world problems facing the local community.
